The Era of AIaaS begins

Technology is not artificial, but natural, because humans belong to nature. As in the natural world, eras are defined by innovation that primarily captures the imagination and the drive of our ancestors and of ourselves.

As announced by OpenAI CEO Sam Altmann and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on January 23rd, 2023, AI will be a powerful, general-purpose technology platform with transformative potential as significant as the discovery of fire, the wheel, agriculture, the steam engine, the PC, the internet and the World Wide Web, mobile telephony, cloud storage, and computation, and the emergence of digital reality. Exaggeration? We shall see.

The title of a 2014 article published in Wired magazine says it all: Digital Darwinism: How Disruptive Technology is Changing Business for Good. Its author, Brian Solis, rightly introduced the idea regarding our era “…where technology and society are evolving faster than businesses can naturally adapt. This sets the stage for a new era of leadership, a new generation of business models, charging behind a mantra of adapt or die.”

Brian Solis’ observation is exactly how we at Bravent intend to lead, by picking up the message and exerting action with this updated set of our status as a Microsoft Official Partner in the realm of B2B relationships is a privilege. The purpose is to openly share and create real value, a vision that is shared by OpenAI and Microsoft.

Here’s just a taste of what our team is working on right now: picture the power of Microsoft Azure – whose Olympian columns are Production and Performance – boosted with GPT-3, OpenAI’s third-generation General Pre-trained Transformer.

This screen video has just been published on LinkedIn by Bravent’s Chief Innovation Officer, Mario Lopez-Baratas. Here are some of the more generic use cases such a solution could be deployed:

1. Customer Service Automation: Integrate GPT-3 into your customer service platform to provide quick, accurate, and consistent responses to customer inquiries.

2. Content Generation: Automatically generate product descriptions, articles, and other types of content, saving time and resources.

3. Chatbots and Virtual Assistants: Build conversational interfaces, such as chatbots or virtual assistants, to help users complete tasks, find information, or receive support.

4. Knowledge Management: Store and retrieve information, such as FAQ answers, product specifications, and company policies.

5. Lead Generation and Qualification: Integrate it into a sales or marketing platform to help qualify leads, provide product recommendations, and answer customer questions.

6. Market and Sentiment Analysis: Analyze large amounts of unstructured data, such as customer reviews and social media posts, to understand market trends and sentiment about their products and services. This point has been proven in the video.

The objective is to show OpenAI’s potential on Azure. This was but a minimal example of how Bravent creates world-class business value by integrating OpenAI in projects as well as commercializing compelling Azure cloud services.

If you were to automate these queries and processes for your business, say with Power Automate using low-code, drag-and-drop tools, the possibilities are immense. This is data mining at its most effective. That’s digital transformation taken to the next level.

One piece of information that is relevant. Forget about heart-pounding Hollywood director Michael Bay for a second. For those of you, business execs, CXOs, or just readers still in the process of toying with this technology, what is in fact a ‘Transformer’?

A ‘Transformer’ is a Deep Learning architecture that adapts to and from, morphs into, analyzes, processes, and generates sequential data such as those derived from natural language. There are other types, but we will stick to OpenAI’s GPT-3. That is how it was done in the previous example.

Reading the graphic above one realizes how much is to be gained by engaging with this technology platform, through a proven-expertise Microsoft Official partner like Bravent, in use cases, papers, projects, and proven innovation.

NOT THE END BUT THE BEGINNING

And then, just as Zeus and his Olympians once battled Kronos and his Titans for the dominion of the cosmos in Hesiod’s Theogony, a powerful challenger has risen to challenge the until-now unbeatable Google search algorithm. In addition, to the January 23rd public release, on February 8th, Microsoft announced the new AI-powered Bing search engine and Edge browser.  To call this a game changer is in fact an understatement that we will discuss in a future article, and with amazing possibilities for businesses.

As the Olympians won the war against natural time and settled into peace, so OpenAI and Microsoft Azure are a partnership born in heaven. They have truly given birth to a brand-new era.

Consequently, we shall spring into the future as we witness the birth of AI as a Service. Come and join us
