Innovation in tourism destination exploration

Challenge

CATAI sought to innovate in the way of offering information about the trips to be contracted by a client, creating an attractive and entertaining way for its clients to ask through spoken language to a virtual assistant that would solve all the doubts about hotels, documentation, flights, weather, etc.

The challenge was to combine a visual and sensory experience to enrich the experience, along with providing the information that users are interested in, about their travel options.

Solution

The result was the development of CAT-AI XR, an extended reality (XR) experience that allows users to explore travel options in tourist destinations such as Japan and Costa Rica through mixed reality devices. For this development we used Apple vision pro, but others, such as Meta Quest 3, can also be used.

CAT-AI XR is a virtual assistant that gives you information about available trips and solves your doubts about them through natural language, by voice, offering a natural, fluid and intuitive way of communication. The application starts as Mixed Reality, in which the user does not lose sight of the real environment and the information is digitally augmented. A globe is displayed while the voice of the virtual assistant welcomes the user.

The assistant is specifically trained with travel information, and suggests that you choose a destination from among the possible ones. Once chosen, the user is immersed in one of the sites defined in that trip’s itinerary and with the possibility of receiving recommendations for activities, accommodations, flights and more.

During FITUR 2025, visitors were able to experience CAT-AI XR‘s capacity to explore destinations through MR viewers, with a personalized experience according to the user’s preferences. This solution also integrates with platforms such as Amadeus to obtain real-time information on flights, activities and recommended restaurants.
