The Bravent team claimed victory yesterday in the grand final of the VI Datatón by IndesIA, competing against the winners of all the year’s semifinals.
Our project tackled the challenge posed by Mecánicas Aparicio, focused on optimizing production efficiency and planning by automating the analysis of parts—a process that had previously been carried out manually.
The Challenge: More Efficient and Planned Production
Mecánicas Aparicio, a company specialized in laser cutting and machining, faced significant challenges in its production process: variability in production times, suboptimal resource allocation, unexpected stoppages, and quality errors. These difficulties complicated planning and generated extra costs, affecting competitiveness.
The goal was clear: develop a solution capable of accurately predicting production times, automating parts analysis, and facilitating decision-making on the shop floor.
The Solution: XGBoost + Analytical Chatbot
Bravent implemented an AI-based solution, combining a predictive production model with XGBoost and an analytical chatbot that allows users to query production information and KPIs naturally.
The model was trained with historical production order data, applying advanced validation and hyperparameter optimization techniques. XGBoost was chosen for its robustness and ability to capture complex interactions in the data.
The chatbot, based on language models, enables any user—technical or non-technical—to consult predictions, indicators, and analyses in natural language, making information accessible and easy to interpret.
Impact: Measurable and Tangible Results
The solution had a direct, quantifiable impact on Mecánicas Aparicio’s operations:
